Kara Williams is a longtime journalist, having worn many different hats in her 20-year editorial career--newspaper reporter, corporate copyeditor and magazine editor to name a few.

An avid traveler since childhood, she regularly visits the East and West coasts from her land-locked state of Colorado, just to get semi-annual "beach fixes." Hawaii and Mexico are other favorite sun-and-sand destinations.

Married with two young children, Kara tries to alternate her vacations among family trips, romantic getaways with her husband and weekend escapes with friends (preferably involving spa treatments, wine and lots of girl talk). Whether it's an off-the-beaten-path destination or a wildly popular Orlando theme park, she enjoys all types of vacations and typically has two or three trips in the works at any given time.

Kara's travel-related articles have appeared in Every Day with Rachael Ray, Dallas Morning News, Denver Post, Porthole Cruise Magazine, 5280 (Denver's city magazine), Denver Life, Aspen Sojourner, Mountain Parent, Chesapeake Family and Aviation for Women.

Online you can find her at Grandparents.com, GoColorado.com, FamilyVacationCritic.com and Fodors.com. She edits AffordableTours.com's Travel Guide, blogs with her friends about all things related to travel at TheVacationGals.com and reviews travel gear at PracticalTravelGear.com.

Kara is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW). Please learn more about her, including multiple writing awards she's won, at her personal website. Or follow her Kara on Twitter: @karasw.
